Anastasios Fakinos studied Byzantine Music at the Byzantine Music School of the Greek Metropolis of Mesogaia & Lavreotiki under the instruction of Ioannis Margaziotis and later Andreas Voutsinas from where he graduated with honors. At the same period, he was mentored and inspired to the Psaltic Art by Archon Protopsaltis Dimitrios Sourlantzis. He also studied Western Music, earning Diplomas in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue under the instruction of composer Vasilios Dellios at the Apollonian Conservatory of Music and Composition under the instruction of composer Periklis Koukos at the National Conservatory of Athens. Later he studied Contemporary Composition under the renowned composer Dr. Theodore Antoniou in Boston University, Boston MA. He also holds a Master in Arranging from Berklee College of Music, Boston MA.

    He served for more than 15 years as a Music Teacher and Professor at public schools and Institutions (Greek Ministry of Education) and private schools. He also served as the head of Music Department at Costeas-Geitonas schools for 5 years as qualified International Baccalaureate instructor. At the same time, he founded and directed the first School Radio Station in Greece (CGS Radio). Between 1998 and 2008 he directed and instructed multiple Choirs and Orchestras in Athens along with various School Choirs and Orchestras with numerous concerts and sport events opening  ceremonies (Athens Authentic Marathon Opening Ceremonies 2004 & 2005). 

    As a composer he is commissioned by multiple organizations and private companies including National Opera of Greece, Athens Marathon, Greek Ministry of Education, University of Athens, Berklee College of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, etc. His music portfolio includes multiple works for eastern solo instruments and western orchestra, polyphonic works in eastern modes as well as liturgical music. 

In 2009 he moved to Shanghai, China invited by the famous Shanghai Conservatory of Music where he worked until 2015 as visiting professor and composer, commissioned on composing concerts for soloists and western orchestra for post-graduate students graduating as soloists and performers of Chinese traditional instruments. At the same period, he earned an additional MA in Chinese Language and Literature and he began his research on the relationship between the Ancient Greek and Paleo-Byzantine and early Chinese notational systems and modes. He is also the founder and CEO of “Musical Synthesis” based in Shanghai.

    He has served as Protopsaltis in Parishes in Athens, Greece for 15 years and he volunteered as visiting Protopsaltis at Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Cambridge MA, between 2008-2009. He was member of “Romeiko Ensemble” under the direction of Dr. Yorgos Bilalis (1993-2016) and he participated as baritone and bass in multiple recordings and concerts in Greece, Cyprus, and the United States, and currently  he is member and soloist of the Choir of Metropolis of New Jersey under the direction of maestro Dimitri Fousteris.

    In 2015 he returned to the United States where he is currently the Protopsaltis, Choir Director and Youth Choir Director (four 1st places in Sights & Sounds) at St Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ.
